I start and end all intakes with a session with the parent/s. Further parent coaching sessions can take place, as needed, throughout my time working with your child.  ​

Parent coaching sessions can help with brainstorming solutions and parenting methods, co-parenting challenges, building relationship with your child and reassurance.  Parent coaching sessions are also applicable to caregivers who are not the natural parent of the child.  ​

Play therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration and work for children aged 12 and under.  Usually these take place fortnightly, but in some cases it may be weekly.  

Where applicable, I am able to access funding from Gumboot Friday, ACC sensitive claims, Victim Support, Telus EAP services, as well as a few other options.  In some cases Winz may also fund play therapy.  

From time to time, I run parent support groups.  In these groups, we talk about various helpful parenting tools to build relationship and resilience in your children and we also offer support.  Parenting can be a very challenging journey and sometimes it helps to share these challenges with other parents who are going through similar things.

Groups are limited to 4 - 6 participants at a time, run for 1.5 - 2 hours per week for 8 weeks and cost $40 per person per session.

If you are concerned about your child's play or lack thereof - maybe they game too much or just don't seem able to play - maybe you just have an appointment and would rather they spent that time productively.  This is a new service where children don't need to have a "problem" to come to play therapy.  They can come and spend 50 minutes playing in a developmentally appropriate way that will be good for their whole brain development.  These sessions are limited.  Please enquire if you would like to know more.
